Se dice que alla por fines de la década del 60 fue prácticamente el creador del rock sinfónico. Si bien Deep Purple ( el grupo que lo distinguió ) tenía un estilo
más próximo al rock pesado, Jon Lord había logrado componer Concerto for Group and Orchestra y grabar un disco con la
Filarmónica de Londres, dando forma a ese estilo musical que supo emparentar lo
mejor del Rock and roll con lo más selecto de la música clásica.
Otros grupos como Yes, Génesis, E L & P o King Crimson siguieron los pasos sinfónicos,
pero Lord dio el puntapié inicial.
Hace pocos días Jon Lord nos dejó. Inolvidable quedará en nosotros por siempre
el teclado que prestigiara a una de las más grandes bandas del Rock.
Sin duda cada vez vamos quedando menos.
